An Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) is the entry-level Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professional who provides initial, basic life-saving care at the scene of an emergency, performing interventions like controlling bleeding, administering oxygen, and using a defibrillator.

The course prepares students to become Emergency Medical Technicians (Basic). Intensive lectures, hands-on labs, and clinical time allow students to gain the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients, ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life-threatening emergencies.

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care under the supervision of nurses and other medical professionals, playing a vital role in supporting patient well-being and the overall functioning of healthcare teams. The course content emphasizes anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, legal/ethical issues, and skills training in basic patient care.

This course prepares students to advance to become an Emergency Department Technician, an in-hospital role. Coursework and hands-on practice focus on patient care basics, including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, patient assessment, emergency room operations, and emergency procedures like bleeding control, shock management, airway management, trauma, and childbirth. Previous professional experience or credential in healthcare is required (such as a PCT, EMT, CNA, etc.).

The course prepares students to become an EKG technician who performs diagnostic electrocardiogram (EKG) tests, which involve placing electrodes to create a snapshot of the heart’s electrical activity. Course content includes cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical law and ethics.
